I, like many people, place a high value on food and love to eat. Being new to the campus, I decided to explore my options of places I can eat. I ventured all the way to West Halls in particular Waring Commons today for dinner. I went at about 4:30 so I was able to avoid the crowd. The food was fresh and plentiful. I was extremely impressed by the dessert items.
The sensation I felt while taking my first bite into the warm, gooey, mouth watering chocolate chip cookie was amazing. The cookie was large in size, about comparable to the size of Subway’s cookies but so much better. It was soft and the chocolate literally melted in my mouth. There was the perfect amount of chocolate chips. There wasn’t a pitiful amount or a nauseating amount that made you sick to your stomach after eating it. The amount of chocolate chips in this cookie was enough to satisfy every chocolate fanatic’s fantasy. The warmth of the cookie is ideal for the cold winter nights approaching.
Most importantly, the cookie reminded me of home. Home sweet home. The cookie tasted like what a typical “grandma’s cookie” would taste like. Grandma’s have a talent in baking, cheering you up, and love. By taking one bite into the cookie I instantly made this connection, and a feeling of comfort, love, and happiness instantly overcame me, and I felt at home for the first time in a very long time.
